CASE - BASED DESIGN PROCESS facilitating the use of product models for the purpose of information evolution

1. Background The building industry agrees upon the fact that the construction process is fragmentary, this being probably the main reason for problems with the profitability and the quality of the products. The adoption of Information Technology (IT) has changed the building industry in more than one way. The need of information sharing during the different stages: building design, construction, and management, has forced the actors to realise that new work methods are necessary. Today, we can state that Information Technology has become the driving force in the reengineering of the whole construction process.
